After days of bouncing around from place to place, I finally got to go back to my property. The first thing I saw was my porch leaning up against my neighbor’s house down the street. All of our clothes were scattered through the woods, waving in the wind. Where my house should have been was now a gigantic hole with house sunk inside it, split in 2. I was completely devastated.

I was determined to be in a new home by Thanksgiving. A lot of people sold their property and left after the storm. But I’ve been on my land for 22 years, I raised my kids there, that was home. I couldn’t stand to leave it. I prayed and prayed, and was led to Southern MH. When I walked into what would be my future home, it took my breath away. It’s one of those moments when you know this is your blessing. Today, you can walk into my beautiful new home and never even know I once lost everything. Did we make it into our new home by Thanksgiving? We made Halloween.
